At Trapezium, we believe that true math understanding can’t be measured by paper-and-pencil tests or point-and-click software. Instead, we rely on demonstrable assessments — including oral counting, mental math recall, and other hands-on tasks — that give teachers a clear window into student progress. Educators will leave with practical tools and routines for tracking fluency in meaningful, actionable ways.
Dr. McIver earned her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania with her doctoral research: Understanding the Numerical Reasoning of Middle School Students. She has continued her research through interviews of students across the country - from kindergarten to college - to better understand their mathematical thinking. Driven by the belief that young learners are capable of tackling far more challenging and meaningful math than traditional programs provide, Angela founded Trapezium Math to support teachers in delivering high quality math education. Her curriculum-agnostic framework - inspired by Science of Reading Research - provides a roadmap for teachers to understand student math foundations. Angela’s innovative approach engages students and teachers with hands-on, confidence-building activities that foster a genuine love for math, moving beyond the limitations of worksheet and computer-driven instruction.
